How to change saved passwords for AOL screen name

AOL instant messenger, commonly known as AIM, is an online chat client that enables you to communicate with people quickly and quickly using a broadband internet connection. Like other chat applications, AIM requires that you enter the username and password to log on and use the service. To make logging easy, you can save your password in the chat client. However, if you change your AOL account password for any reason, then you have to change the stored password in the AIM client program and other AOL Mail Support programs you use.

Change AOL / AIM Password

1. Direct your web browser to AOL password page (links in resources).

2. Sign in to your AOL Account with your current username and password. If prompted, answer your security question. Change password pop-up window opens.

3. Choose your current username in the "Screen Name" drop-down menu. Enter your new password in the "New Password" and "Confirm Password" field.

4. Click the "Save" button and then log out of your AOL account.

5. To confirm that this works, please sign in to your AOL account again using your new password.

Change AIM Saved Password

1. Launch AIM on your computer. Enter the username for which you want to change the saved password, but do not sign in.

2. Click the checkbox next to "Remember my password" and then place the cursor inside the "Password" field. Tap the "backspace" key a few times to clear the saved password.

3. Enter the new password in the "Password" field and then re-enable the "Remember my password" option. Click "Sign In" to log in and save the new password in the AIM client.

AOL Desktop

1. Launch the AOL Desktop application but do not sign in.

2. To delete the checkmark, click on the "Save password" checkbox.

3. To highlight the current password, double-click the "Password" field and then press the "Delete" button to erase it.

4. Type your new AOL password in the "Password" field. Again, click the "Save Password" option and then click on the "Sign In" button.

AOL keywords

1. Sign AOL with your username and new password.

2. In the text box, click on "AOL Keywords", type "store password" and click on "Go".

3. To clear the checkmark, click the checkbox at the bottom of the "Sign-On" label. Click inside the "password" field and then press "backspace" or "delete" to delete the current password.

4. Click the "Sign-On" option to enable again. Type the new password in the "Password" field and then click on "Save".
